First-stage mandible reconstruction is underway in Guatemala. Old GSW — mandibular defect, maxillary defect, and significant facial soft tissue disfigurement — treated with a right fibula free flap.

Case Underway: Mandible Reconstruction After Gunshot Injury
Case underway in Guatemala. This patient had a GSW to the face 6 years ago. He has a mandibular defect, maxillary defect, and significant facial soft tissue disfigurement. Today is the first stage of reconstructing the mandible, treated by @hashtagomfs @andyomfs @car.omfs @dr.z.brown @robertofuentesvelasquez. First stage is the bones. Then the soft tissue.
Right fibula free flap is in progress, vessels connecting to the left neck. VSP is up on the OR wall — custom plate, predictive holes, fibula harvest with the cutting guide on the donor bone. The August planning post is the case writeup and plan.
